Contractor Work

Hilton Head Nannies Registry and Referral Program works with nannies who would like to obtain independent contractor/temporary work/babysitting positions. We accept only highly qualified nannies into our registry.

Qualifications Required

There are characteristics that we look for in a nanny before she becomes a part of our registry. We believe that these characteristics are necessary if she is to work effectively with children.

Our Nannies Must:

• Have a genuine love and respect for children
• Must truly love working with children
• Be a child advocate
• Be 100% trustworthy
• Have a high school diploma, GED, and preferably some post-high school coursework
• Be well-spoken and fluent in grammatically correct English
• Have verifiable childcare experience and be familiar with ages and stages of children
• Provide child care references
• Provide personal references
• Be in good general health and able to properly care for children (must have stamina)
• Dress neatly and professionally
• Be prompt
• Be courteous and demonstrate an understanding of professional conduct (polite behavior in accordance with social conventions and consideration of others)
• Be comfortable working under technical supervision (i.e. nanny cameras)
• Be against using physical force with children
• Obtain a strong sense of morals and follow a code of ethics
• Have a clear criminal history
• Have a clear driving history
• Have or obtain up-to-date CPR Certification for Infants, Children, & Adults
• Have or obtain up-to-date First Aid Certification
• Have reliable transportation
• Have a working cell phone with them at all times
• Provide a W-9 to the agency (in compliance with IRS law) to prevent withholding of backup taxes
• Sign a contract with the agency
• Undergo very selective screening, including meeting with management in person
• Complete 25 page application
• Purpose to follow all agency rules, protocol, and directives
